Pomfret Fry


This recepie is a typical kerala cuisine made with lots of spices . You can use this masala to fry any fish of your choice.I have used pomfret here.

Preparation time: 10 mins

Marination time: 20 mins

Cooking time: 15 mins


•Pomfret : 8 fishes
•Garlic cloves: 4
•Ginger: a small piece
•Shallots: 5 to 6
•Green chillies: 3 to 4
•Curry leaves: few
•Turmeric powder: 1 /2 tsp
•Red chilli powder: 2 to 3 tbsp
•Everest fish masala powder: 1 tbsp
•Pepper kernels: 1 tbsp
•Fennel seeds: 1 tsp
•Salt: for taste
•Coconut oil: 1 tbsp for masala n 4 to 5 tbsp for frying


•Grind together all the spice powders, ginger, garlic, green chillies, shallots, curry leaves, coconut oil and water into a thick paste .
•Marinate fish pieces with the paste and keep it in refrigerator for 20 to 30 mins.
•Either shallow fry or deep fry.
•You can use rice flour or rava to make it crispy. (Optional)
