Crabs are the richest source of calcium and a healthy seafood. This curry is a simple recepie made in kerala style. There are many ways of making crab curry , but here I am starting with simple one. Earlier I had posted a Crab Roast recepie which is different from this recepie.
Kerala Style Njandu Curry / Crab Curry !!
Preparation time : 10 mins
Cooking time: 30 mins
Ingredients:
•Crab : 1 kg
•Onions : 3 finely sliced
•Tomatoes: 2 chopped
•Ginger garlic: 1 tbsp crushed
•Shallots : 7 to 8 sliced
•Green chillies: 2 slit
•Curry leaves: few
•Fenugreek seeds: 1/4 tsp
•Turmeric powder: 1/2 tsp
•Red chilli powder: 1 tbsp
•Coriander powder: 1 tbsp
•Garam masala powder: 1 tbsp
•Salt: for taste
•Coconut oil: 4 tbsp
Preparation:
•Clean and chop the crabs and keep aside.
•Heat oil in a round bottom pan or kadai.
•Add 1/4 tsp fenugreek seeds and curry leaves and toss for few seconds.
•Add green chillies and crushed ginger garlic and saute for a minute.
•Add onions and shallots with enough salt and saute till the onions turn translucent.
•Add chopped tomatoes and saute till they turn mushy.
•Add all the dry spice powders and mix well.
•Add the crab pieces and mix well so that the masala coats every single piece.
•Add 2 cups of hot water and cover and cook for 15 mins.
•After 15 mins open the lid and sprinkle few curry leaves and switch off the flame.
